2022 Switzerland

After three travel-free years we finally made it back to Switzerland to see my family. Europe had one of the sunniest and hottest summers in recorded history, which was excellent for us, but not so good for the environment. Between visiting family and friends we cycled through the Dolomites and walked in the Valais and Haute-Savoy.

Below are some impressions from Switzerland.

Abbey of Saint Gall is a monastery founded in 719. The abbey library (Stiftsbibliothek) is one of the earliest and most important monastic libraries in the world. It comprises 160,000 books, some dating back to the 8th century. The image below is from a postcard, since photographs are not allowed.
